How
you can get to Elba by car
The
Island of Elba is easily linked to the mainland at Piombino,
where two shipping lines (Toremar and Moby Lines) have
got comfortable ferry-boats that in summer run numerous
times throughout the day.
10 km separate the Island from the mainland and the
crossing takes an hour circa.
The ferry-boats get to the ports of Portoferraio, Porto
Azzurro and Rio Marina.
You
can get to Elba faster if you catch the hydrofoil. It
transports only passengers and get to Cavo, an outlying
village within the municipality of Rio Marina, in only
20 minutes and arrives at Portoferraio after 15 more
minutes.
